I live in Derbyshire, England am married, have a son in his twenties and I’m a Christian.

I have had multiple sclerosis for the last twenty years or so, though it didn’t have so much of an impact on my life until about 13 years ago.

When I was 38 I finished my full time job to become a ‘housewife’ (of sorts!).

More about Me...

For the initial six months I gained valuable ‘hands on’ experience at being depressed until a close friend suggested that I ought to visit my GP and, between many tears, I agreed.

Between bouts of sobbing yet again, I shared my problem with my doctor, who prescribed a short course of ‘something’ for me.

Once over that experience I became a volunteer for Derbyshire ‘Centre for Inclusive Living’. (www.dcil.org.uk) I continued there for about 4 years absolutely loving it. I felt that I ‘was going to work’ once again and I learnt so much and met many great people.

Just now I’m the ‘Information Officer’ for ‘The MS Support Group’ and act as a support worker for the same organisation – www.themssupportgroup.org

In 1998 I placed an advert in MS Matters for a Christian pen pal and four people wrote to me and I to them, which was lovely. Then for some reason MS Matters ran my advert again and this time I had 19 replies!

I was overwhelmed and could barely find time to fit MS in!

In addition to my pen pals I also acquired a few e-pals with MS and one lady, after I shared my writing predicament with her, said I ought to start a newsletter or better still a web-site, and here it is!

One time I was reading a newsletter I saw an article about Derbyshire County Council wanting to contact folk with a story to tell. I thought “I’ve got a good story about how I became a Christian and I also need to learn better writing skills. So I contacted them and someone called to see me and after a time of chatting, over a cup of tea, I was asked if I would write about how MS had led me to becoming a Christian for the D.C.C. Lifelines project.

Lifelines is about the lives of the residents of Derbyshire, which I did and the final version, called 'MS My Faith and Me', is printed on this site.

I want this site to be a place of communication between those of us who have MS, to develop a real sense of community and maybe become friends.

Yes, there are difficult times, but lots of good things still happen!
